Travel & tourism experts helping to connect the Coolest Place

Tourism Seminar

Connecting the Coolest Place is what this autumn’s Donegal Tourism Seminar which is due to take place tomorrow (Thursday) in the Garden Suite at Harvey’s Point Hotel, will be focusing on.

With a great line up of tourism and travel experts set to share their expertise on emerging travel trends, tourism strategies and marketing techniques, this seminar is a must for any business operating in the tourism sector in Donegal.

Speaking prior to the event Barney McLaughlin Head of Tourism at Donegal County Council believes that this seminar is all about enabling greater collaboration and networking among tourism providers in Donegal saying “it is all about collaboration and networking opportunities and this is why we decided to organise a facilitated networking session in the afternoon - to give providers a chance to talk to each other and brainstorm ideas with regards to the development of tourism marketing and business activities that they feel Donegal as a county could benefit from”.

Guest speakers include Founder and Managing Director of TravelMedia.ie Michael Collins; General Manager of the Shandon Hotel & Spa, Carolynne Harrison; Social Media & Digital Expert Greg Fry; Wild Atlantic Way Manager at Fáilte Ireland Joan Crawford; and Managing Director & Publisher of National Geographic Traveller (UK) Matthew Jackson.

This seminar is one of a series of seminars hosted twice a year by Donegal County Council’s Tourism Unit.

“We believe that it is important for the Tourism Sector in Donegal to be kept fully informed of the changing needs of the global travel and tourism industry” says Barney McLaughlin.

He added “Donegal is competing in an increasingly competitive environment and in many cases we are punching above our weight when it comes to destination brand recognition.  Accolades such as ‘the coolest place on the planet’ by National Geographic Traveller (UK) and the ‘Medias favourite place in Ireland’ an award bestowed on Donegal at the Media Travel Awards in Dublin earlier this year, are extremely important for a location such as Donegal.”

“We now need to make sure that we maximise the opportunities presented to us by these prestigious accolades and the tourism trade in Donegal is critical to ensuring that this happens.  Our visitors are becoming more and more discerning and we need to ensure that Donegal is well positioned to meet the expectations of our visitors”.

This seminar will take, Lough Eske, Donegal Town at 9.30am on Thursday 26 October 2017.
